I went with Eva to her birthplace in rural China. With her aunts, we walked through rice paddy fields with a group of kids following. The village we ended up at had no electricity or running water. With its vast population, rural China is not removed from the political culture of the nation but has rather been the site of its most intense struggles. back to photos
