The
first time I was in China I took a lot of photographs. I was really pleased
with them. This trip I realized how much those photos were about things
that seemed strange to me yet were common in Asia. "Look, all the
bicycles, selling noodles on the street, red paint that is peeling."So
halfway through this trip I tried at night to capture something of the
feeling of Beijing, in other words, the abstract. I don't know if these
are any less stereotypical but it was an interesting exercise.

| This
is the street my hotel was on. It is part of a Hutong which are old
styled walled neighborhoods, now being re-built throughout China.
This particular Hutong is split down the middle by a "modern"
street. |

Qian Hai is
a small lake around which there are a number of very hip
and nice coffee
shops and bars.
